The Backwaters of Kerala

Kerala, also referred as god's own country is the immensely gorgeous state dwelling on the Malabar Coast having 600 km of Arabian Seashore line. So, this vacation make sure to pack your bags and step out to soak yourself under the sun on the coastal beaches of Kerala. With rich cultural heritage, lip smacking cuisine and luxury rides on the world’s first water metro, I will take you on a vacation that will make your life worth living. The scenic landscape and rich wildlife will take you close to nature. Also, I will introduce you to local traditions and festivities to make you experience one of a kind trip. In this trip, instead of exploring the conventional tourist spots, we will go a little off beat and dredge up Kerala's hidden gems. With every day filled with new adventures we will take you on a trip that will be unforgettable.

Tentative Schedule

  • Day 01 : Arrive Cochin

    Here begins your itinerary with your arrival at Cochin! Once your flight lands I will guide you to your hotel to freshen up and relax a bit. Our trip will start with Fort Kochi with our next stop being St. Francis Church and watching the famed Chinese fishing nets in action will make you experience the true essence of coastal life. With this we will sit down for some food at a local cafe and Indulge in Kerala platter of Karimeen (Pearl Spot) or Prawn Moilee. Additionally, I will take you to the spice market to Indulge your senses in the aroma of freshly harvested herbs and spices and make you Discover Kerala's rich history and antique riches by visiting Jew Town. By the evening the whirlwind experience of a serene walk on Marine Drive, the sight of exotic sunset at Cochin Harbour and Vembanad Lake and the beginning of the audience of exquisite, spectacular and culturally rich Kathakali dance performance, will leave you in awe.

  • Day 02 : Cochin to Munnar

    Your day will begin with a scenic view with lush greenery, magnificent Sunrise and whatnot! Tracing our patch to Munnar, you will see what nature's true beauty looks like. The exquisite sights of Western ghats and serene valleys will leave you spellbound. Our next stop will be a tea estate, where you will not only walk through the tea gardens but get familiar with the process the tea leaves have to undergo before it reaches your kitchen. If possible you might enjoy some exclusively brewed teas! Our next destination, the Attukal Waterfalls, is equally transcendental and will take you to a serene atmosphere. Upon reaching Munnar I suggest you to take a little break to get some rest and freshen up a bit as our next stop will be Eravikulam National Park, where you can stroll for the full day, spot the endangered Nilgiri Tahr and indulge in the Panoramic views of the park.

  • Day 03 : Munnar

    Kashmir of South India Welcomes you! Yes, that's what Munnar is. With Dams, Valleys, museums and hills, this city has picturesque places to calm your souls. Starting by Mattupetty Dam, I will take you on a boat ride while witnessing the gorgeous sight of the hills. Another fascinating place is Echo Point where you just don't experience the stunning views but you can even hear the valley echo whatever you speak. The Shikara boat ride in the Kundala lake is another mesmerizing and exotic experience that will let you soak in the peaceful vibe of Munnar. We'll visit the Tea Museum in the afternoon, where you can learn about the intriguing background of Munnar's tea business. In addition to tasting some of the greatest regional brews, you will discover the history of tea growing. We'll also travel to the highest point in South India, Anamudi Peak, for a singular experience. We can take a little walk around the region for some amazing sights if you're game.

  • Day 04 : Munnar to Thekkady

    Following breakfast, we will check out and travel to Thekkady, which is a picturesque drive through rolling hills and spice plantations. Once we arrive, we will stop briefly at the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary to take in the natural beauty before visiting a nearby spice plantation where you can learn about Kerala's well-known spices, such as cardamom and pepper. After the light exploration is over, you will have the remainder of the afternoon to relax at the hotel, enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

  • Day 05 : Thekkady

    What's the point if you don't go wandering across the spice gardens while you are on your Kerala trip? Today we will head to Vandanmedu, a village hailed for tea and cardamom gardens. Additionally the thrilling trip to the bamboo rafting experience on the Periyar Lake will fill you with a sense of adventure. Paddling through the calm lake surrounded by dense forests, indulging in the mellifluous sound of golden orioles,cormorants, passerines and others will leave you spellbound. Another spot offering the Panoramic view of Western ghats is Chellarkovil, with exquisite sights and melodious waterfall sound, all you need is to lay on your back and let your spirit fly! The last destination for today is the Kalaripayattu performance, where you will witness the traditional martial art of Kerala.

  • Day 06 : Thekkady to Allepey

    Your day today will start with the onset of the journey to Alleppey, a beautiful town that will offer you the scenic sight even along the path that takes you there. Your trip today will begin by boarding the conventional houseboat that will take you on a trip to Kerala backwaters with quick halts at the riverside villages to unveil you through true rural culture and lifestyle of the locals. Additionally, you will get a chance to indulge your taste buds in local cuisine that are freshly prepared in the boat and are served on banana leaves. Head back to the hotel and take a rest to rejuvenate.

  • Day 07 : Alleppey to Kumarakom

    Bidding adieu to Alleppey, our next destination is going to be Kumarakom. This city is nestled in the beautiful backwaters of Kerala that will offer you once in a lifetime experience. There are additional breathtaking vistas of lakes, rivers, and the verdant landscape along the short yet gorgeous drive from Alleppey to Kumarakom. When you arrive, I’ll take you to the well-known Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, where you can take a leisurely stroll through the lush surroundings and see a variety of migratory bird species, particularly in the winter. Both nature enthusiasts and bird watchers will find paradise in this sanctuary. Our other today's highlights will include a hearty Kerala style lunch at a local diner, an ayurvedic spa session and a sunset cruise in the backwaters to get you experience the true essence of life which you have long lost in the city's busy life.

  • Day 08 : Kumarakom

    We will begin the day with a visit to Kumarakom Beach following a satisfying breakfast. Here, you can unwind by the water or stroll down the beach at your own pace. After that, we'll travel to Vembanad Lake for a tranquil boat ride amid verdant surroundings, which will provide a tranquil haven and the opportunity to see local fauna. After enjoying some traditional Keralan fare for lunch, you can relax or take advantage of an Ayurvedic massage at your resort. You can unwind before going to bed in the evening or take a stroll along the backwaters at sunset.

  • Day 09 : Kumarakom to Cochin, Leave Cochin

    Shubha Dinam! Today we will wrap up our day at Kumarakom and hit the road back to Cochin. As soon as you reach here I will take you through the local market for a souvenir Shop, because no trip is complete without some gorgeous souvenirs to take back. Also, we will visit the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets or stroll around the Jew Town and Mattancherry Palace to make your time worth it. In the afternoon I will bid adieu to you as you take the flight/train back to your hometown with lasting memories from this Kerala Trip.
