Rara Lake Driving Expedition
Situated in the far remote lands of Tibet Autonomous Region, Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar carry the highest spiritual value in Hindu, Jain and Buddhist religions, Every year a large number of pilgrims and adventure seekers visit this place from almost every corner of the world. Popularly known as Kailash Mansarovar Yatra this sojour starts during the last week of April every year and conntinues till the middle of October month, almost. For the last over 15 years, I am organising travel to Kailash Mansarovar and I feel blessed while guiding and instructing the travellers for a safe and memorable journey to this holy land.

Day 01 : Delhi to Kohalpur
Try to mingle up with your fellow travellers as the drive from Lucknow to Kohalpur is going to be a long one covering 180 kilometres within 4 hours. Our team will be assisting you in completing all the formalities which will be required to enter Nepal. Once you all have checked in to the pre-booked hotel, you will be given an ample amount of time to relax and chill while enjoying your delicious dinner with a short briefing about the trip and an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02 : Kohalpur to Bardia National Park
Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel as we will be driving to the Bardia National Park covering a distance of only 29 kilometres. Covering an area of 374 sq mi, Bardia National Park is the largest and the least populated national park in Nepal's terai. We will be spending the entire day enjoying the rich flora and fauna and exploring the diverse animal species and staying overnight in a hotel near the park itself.

Day 03 : Bardia to Kalikot
We will be driving to our next spot which is Kalilot, covering a distance of 104 kilometres. Today will be one of the most scenic drives through 'SAL' woodland, so take advantage of the beauty and adventure you will get to experience during your journey! We will be having our lunch on the way after which we will continue our drive to Kalikot. Upon arrival, check-in at the hotel and enjoy your dinner along with the overnight stay.

Day 04 : Kalikot to Mugu, Rara Lake
Now comes the most exciting destination of the trip, an exciting drive to Rara Lake! After having our breakfast, we will drive to Mugu near Rara Lake covering a distance of 49 kilometres within 4 hours! The ride to the destination is going to be a bumpy one as the roads are rough, which will be an exciting experience for everyone! We will park the vehicles and trek our way to the guest house, those who prefer to go there by horse or a Yak will be given the choice to do so. Upon arrival, we will check in to a guest house and enjoy dinner with a bonfire and stay overnight.

Day 05 : Rara Lake, Murma Top trekking
After relaxing in the guest house overnight, we will be trekking to Murma Top early in the morning, which stands at an elevation of 12,014 feet which will be a fun and challenging 2-hour walk from the Lake. Once you reach the Murma top, you will be able to enjoy the view of the immensely beautiful Rara Lake along with the hills. After spending some time at the Murma top, we will go back to Mugu and spend the entire night there.

Day 06 : Mugu to Kalikot
After having breakfast, we will be driving back to Kalikot, and stay overnight at our pre-booked hotel.

Day 07 : Kalikot to Kohalpur
We will be driving back to Kohalpur covering a distance of 111 kilometres within 7 hours. You are free to do anything you like once we reach Kohalpur and check – in at the pre-booked hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel

Day 08 : Kohalpur to Lucknow / Delhi
After breakfast, we will be driving back to Lucknow, as the trip ends here.

Important Notes
- The ideal time to visit the lake would be March through May. At this time the weather is mild, the rhododendrons are blooming everywhere filling the mountain trails with color, the sky is clear and the lake is a crystal blue. From the tower, a two hour hike above the lake, the view of the lake is stunning.
- An entry fee of Rs. 3,000 (Foreigners), Rs. 1,500 (SAARC Nationals), Rs. 100 (Nepali) visitor. These charges are not included in our package cost and shall be payable extra by the travellers.
- This trip is designed mainly for self drive off road driving experiences. The drives will be long and challenging in some parts, hence you must bring only 4WD vehicle. If you want to join this trip but do not want to drive, you may ask our trip manager i advance to provide you with a local driver. We also have 4W Nepalese vehicles available with and without drivers, on rent.
