Delhi to Lhasa Driving Adventure
Bored of your regular 9 to 5 job? Are you dreaming of experiencing something fun, adventurous and fulfilling but unable to plan such a trip? No worries. I have an ultimate trip plan that will take you on a topsy turvy ride, letting you experience the ethereal Himalayan region and its incredible beauty. Here I am talking about a 10 day trip from Delhi to Lhasa, that will not only make you transcend the borders but make you experience what life in a cold and remote terrain village looks like. This journey is full of amazing vistas, a vibrant culture, and thrilling experiences, from the bustling streets of Kathmandu to the holy city of Lhasa.
On this trip, I will take you through some of the iconic destination that lies between the Nepal and Tibet border including the Everest base camp, Monasteries and pristine Yamdrok Tso Lake. Perfect for the history lovers, nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers, this itinerary is planned to suit everyone's taste, no matter if you are travelling with your family or alone, you will get one in a lifetime experience while exploring Lhasa “The sunlit city.” Allow me to take you to the new heights with mountain, terrain and passes taking you to new places. Here's the glimpse of the itinerary plan that I have curated just for you.

Day 1: Arrival in Nepal (1,350m)
Svāgata cha! Welcome to Nepal, the country of cuisine and temples. Our starting point to an adventurous trip, today will be a lazy day where I will have to make you retire to your hotel, and giddy up for the trip. In the meanwhile you can enjoy Thukpa, jhol momos, sel roti, Yomari and many more.

Day 2: Drive 155 Km – Kathmandu to Nyalam (3,800m)
As we depart from the vibrant bustle of Kathmandu and make our way to Nyalam, the road trip officially begins. Beautiful vistas of terraced farms, tiny mountain communities, and the foothills of the Himalayas may be seen during the trip. You'll observe the striking change in landscape when we reach Tibet at Zhangmu, as we cross the Nepal-Tibet border. Once in Nyalam, enjoy the fresh mountain air while strolling through the village.

Day 3: Drive 152 Km – Nyalam to Lotingri (4,050m)
If you think that this is all that you are going to experience then you are in chimera. Here unfolds the pristine and gorgeous view on our way from Nyalam to Lotingri. With terrain covered in greens and nomadic tents sitting top of them while Yaks grazing give tk a scenic view that you might have seen only in movies/paintings. You can take your time relaxing and adapting to the altitude and experience the nomadic life.

Day 4: Drive 275 Km – Lotingri to Shegar (4,150m) via Everest Base Camp (5,250m)
On our way to Lotingri to Shegar we will stop by the Everest base camp, the North base camp at the height of 5,250m that will give you a venturous and undaunted experience of climbing the terrain. This experience will remain with you throughout your life , after this goosebumpy experience you will move forward to Shegar and enjoy your night with bonfire and local cuisine at the remote diner.

Day 5: Drive 295 Km – Shegar to Shigatse (3,900m) via Sakya Monastery
We travel to Shigatse, stopping along the way at the Sakya Monastery, via breathtaking alpine scenery. The monastery is a hidden gem of Tibetan Buddhism, distinguished by its unique gray and white walls. Take a leisurely stroll around Shigatse's bustling marketplaces in the evening to experience the dynamic spirit of this old town.

Day 6: Drive 100 Km – Shigatse to Gyantse (3,950m) via Shalu Monastery
We passed the tranquil Shalu Monastery, renowned for its elaborate frescoes and distinctive architecture, on our short but picturesque trip to Gyantse. Explore the Kumbum Stupa, a multi-tiered wonder that provides expansive views of the surrounding valley, once you arrive in Gyantse. Gyantse's charming appeal comes to life when the sun sets, beckoning you to take in its serene splendor.

Day 7: Drive 197 Km – Gyantse to Lhasa (3,650m) via Karo La Pass and Yamdrok Tso Lake
Traveling to Lhasa is a voyage of exploration. As you wind through the Karo La Pass, the magnificent peaks covered in glaciers will captivate you. Then, like a dream, the stunning blue waters of Yamdrok Tso Lake emerge, creating a memorable photo opportunity. We arrive at Lhasa, Tibet's spiritual center, by dusk, where you will be welcomed with open arms.

Day 8: Explore Lhasa – Potala Palace, Norbulingka Palace, and Lhasa Museum
Lhasa not only receives the most sunlight but also has some of the world's precious treasure hidden in its laps. Today I will let you discover the true gems of Lhasa. Our first spot will be Potala Palace - The winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the 7th century, symbolizing Tibetan Buddhism and its central role in the traditional administration. Near comes the serene garden of Norbulingka Palace followed by a trip to Lhasa museum, nestling the centuries of Lhasa historical evidence.

Day 9: Explore Lhasa – Barkhor Bazaar, Sera Monastery, Drepung Monastery, and Jokhang Temple
Experience Lhasa's spiritual and cultural core firsthand. Start in the lively Barkhor Bazaar, where you may interact with people and purchase traditional goods. Experience the mystical energy of the Jokhang Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; visit the expansive Drepung Monastery; and watch the unusual monk arguments at Sera Monastery.

Day 10: Departure
On the last day of Lhasa, take a deep breath in the chilling climate and witness the colorful Lung ta flapping creating a harmonious sound. Today we will bid adieu to this gorgeous land and set out to reach Delhi and immerse ourselves in the routine life but this time with adventurous memories.
